The Chesapeake Bay Retriever, the only american retriever !

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever is well represented and very popular in the United States. This retriever breed was bred in the late 19th century in the Chesapeake Bay, on the east coast of the United States. It was chosen for its sturdiness and endurance, its ability to dive and retrieve large birds in the very cold waters of this bay, and its great loyalty and devotion to its master. These hardy, powerful dogs are tireless retrievers of game, with a waterproof coat in the colors of nature, wavy but not curly, and an undercoat that protects them from water and cold.
They are intelligent, sensitive and very affectionate, especially to their family.
Their expressive golden eyes show their devotion to their masters.
He needs to be educated and live in the country, because, although he's patient and calm, he needs physical activity and to be well looked after.
The breed standard is set by the American Kennel Club.
